Our Missional Community
intends to found a K-12 Episcopal School in Mid-Missouri

Our tri-fold mission is:

 

1) Maintain great diversity in our student body as we create Beloved Community.

 

2) Provide faith-based education, with Christian worship in the Episcopal tradition.

 

3) Exercise academic excellence that prepares our scholars for higher education and careers as responsible, global citizens.

Please join us at any of these:

1) Weekly worship every Sunday morning throughout July and August, 2025.  Location: The Outdoors Building, 200 Old 63 South, Columbia, MO 65201.  

3) "Ready-Set-Go, Back-To-School!" This will be a fun, back-to-school event at Norma Southerland Park on Sunday, August 17, 2025. To help plan this event, please contact the Rev. Heather M. McCain+.

Episcopal School Exploration Team:
Elizabeth English Hines of Saint Louis, MO

Elizabeth English Hines is a retired career educator having  spent over 40 years

in the field of education in various capacities.  She began her career as an elementary

school teacher, later serving as an elementary counselor and instructional

coordinator at the middle school level.  She also held positions as an Assistant

principal, a Psychological Examiner and an an instructor at the university level

as well  serving as an assistant director of the Head Start program in  St. Louis County. 

 

Upon retirement, Elizabeth has served her community and its youth by tutoring and serving as a board member of the Episcopal City Mission which is responsible for assisting in reducing the recidivism rate among our youngest law offenders in St, Louis city and county.  Elizabeth has served as a community volunteer in   the Oasis Program for seniors and offered presentations with the Faith for the Sake of All  program regarding the effects of racism in the St. Louis area and she has participanted in the Dismantling Racism Training Program of the Diocese of Missouri of the Episcopal Church.  

 

Elizabeth is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Mary Ryder Home for Seniors, a former member of the Women’s Society of Washington University in St. Louis and member of the Parents Council of Washington University in St. Louis. Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Harris Teachers College,(now Harris Stowe State University) a Masters in Education/Guidance and Counseling from St. Louis University and a Specialist in Education Degree from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.  Elizabeth is a member and active participant of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri and is currently attending Holy Communion Episcopal Church in University City.  She is a licensed Eucharistic Minister and lay reader and is a member of the Commission on Ministry aiding in the selection of candidates for the episcopal diaconate and priesthood for the diocese. She enjoys reading and studying the Bible and has over twenty years participation in an International bible study group.

 

Mrs.Hines enjoys having fun and keeps up with friends and makes new ones through association in several social organizations. She claims her book club “The Booklovers” as her favorite.  She is married to The Reverend Chester Hines, Jr., Deacon at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Communion in University City.  She has twin sons, Attorney Christian B. E. Hines and Attorney Christopher L. E. Hines, a 3-year-old grand daughter, Olivia, and a 1-year-old grand daughter Eleanor.

Jessica Duhring of Columbia, MO


Jessica Duhring is a proud mother of two beautiful daughters, who will be in
middle school and high school this year.  After having grown up in Idaho, she
moved to Saint Louis as a next step in her career.  There, she met her husband
and together they moved to Columbia, MO.  They are both working full time and
raising their family.  Their passion is sports, and they attend numerous basketball
games, volleyball games and swim meets to support their daughters in what they
love to do.  Jessica and her husband are active as parents in the Multicultural

Achievement Committee (MAC) program within Columbia Public Schools; both

of their daughters have held leadership roles in the MAC Scholars program at

Smithton Middle School.  Jessica frequently chaperones events and activities in

which her daughters choose to participate.  She is frequently a leader among the

parents, which is greatly appreciated.  Jessica has a passion for seeing justice

served when raising children of color.  Both her daughters are graduates of

Nora Stewart preschool, where she and her husband have played a vital role in

fundraising and other types of support.
 

The Rev. Heather M. McCain+ of Columbia, MO
 

The Rev. Heather M. McCain+ is an Episcopal priest and educator.  Her degrees

from Duke University (B.A.), Seabury-Western Theological Seminary (M.Div.) and

Hannibal-LaGrange University (M.Ed.) have prepared her for ministry as Head of

School in an Episcopal school for grades Pre-K through 12, a position for which

she is praying and trusting God. Heather’s passion in ministry is creating

Beloved Community: empowering people to bring about the full manifestation of

God’s reign of justice, compassion, love, joy and peace.  Heather is a Big Sister in

the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.  She loves yoga and swimming. She lives in

Columbia, MO with her cats: Murphy and Lucie.
